No Saturday Morning Training This Week

Mini Meet Gala Larkhall - Results

Thirteen Larkhall Avondale swimmers took part in the 3rd Mini Meet Gala of the year at Larkhall Leisure Centre this weekend, and once again were amongst the medals.

The total number of events competed in was 13, and there were 9 personal bests achieved, the pick of the bunch were Eva Wilkie, 7.62 seconds in the 200 free and Ellie Mooney, 7.41 seconds in the 50 breast.

The swim of the day was Josh Broadfoot, with a 12.98 seconds personal best and 2nd place in the 200 free for the 11 years old age group.

West District - Dumfries

"Another big weekend for Larkhall Avondale took place at the amazing DG1 Leisure Centre, down in Dumfries, where the Group 3 west district meet took place.The club was well represented, taking 6 swimmers who took part in 9 events and with prelims and finals this amounted to 19 swims in total,posting 15 personal bests and collecting along the way, 3 silvers, 1 fourth, 2 fifths and a sixth place. Angus Barr's, competing in the 13 year old age group personal collection for the weekend was 3 silver ( 100 free, 100 and 200 back) and a 5th place in the 200 free.We had 2 swimmers in the girls 100 breast event, Emma Kennedy in the 12 year old age group took 4th and Katie Scott in the 13 year old age group took 5th. Nathan McMurtrie, swimming in the 100 breast in the 10-11 year olds age group took a very creditable 6th place. It should be pointed out that Nathan was making his swimming debut at a west district event. Other swimmers representing the club were Maxine Simpson, 100 back in the 12 year old age group andJosh Broadfoot 100 back in 10-11 year old ages group, this was also his first swims at a west district event. North Ayrshire Gala, Auchenharvie

Seventeen Larkhall Avondale swimmers made the trip through to the Auchenharvie Leisure Centre in Stevenston for the North Ayrshire Junior Meet. It was a fantastic weekend, with the swimmers competing in 45 events, posting 32 new personal best times and winning 5 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals in the process.

Claire Kennedy, Stacy Carrol and Kirk Franks competing in the 8 years age group, were laden down with medals at the end of the weekend. Claire walking away with 2 gold and 3 silver and Stacy with 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze, and Kirk winning gold in the 50 free.

The rest of the medals were won by Katie Scott (1 gold), Emma Carrol (1 bronze) and Emma Kennedy ( 1 silver and 1 bronze).

Out of all the personal bests achieved, the pick of the bunch were Maxine Simpson, 18.79 seconds in the 400 free, Aimee-Kate Mooney, 10.60 seconds in the 100 breast and Rachel Gill 10.57 seconds in the 100 free.
